What the official notice says

Admission

Free entry under the current policy

The Hangzhou government reports that Lingyin Temple and the other major cultural sites in the Feilai Peak scenic area are free under the policy launched on 1 December 2025.

ID document

Passport is listed for non-mainland visitors

The official Lingyin English notice lists a passport among accepted real-name reservation documents for visitors from outside the Chinese mainland. Enter the details exactly as shown on the valid passport you will bring.

Reservation steps

  1. Open Alipay or WeChat. Search for the official mini-program named “Hangzhou Lingyin Feilai Peak” (杭州灵隐飞来峰).
  2. Choose a visit date and time slot. The published notice gives opening hours as 07:30–17:30 and lists morning and afternoon entry periods. Follow the exact slot shown in the mini-program.
  3. Enter the visitor’s real-name details. Select passport as the ID type where offered and check the name and passport number before submission.
  4. Save the successful reservation and bring your original passport. Entry is tied to the reserved date/time and identity. Do not rely on a screenshot alone if staff request the original document.

Booking window and time slots

  • Book at least one day ahead; reservations can be made up to seven days ahead.
  • The notice says reservations open at 08:00 China Standard Time on the morning of the seventh day before the visit, subject to remaining quota.
  • The notice lists a morning period of 07:30–12:00 and an afternoon period of 12:00–17:00; use the exact entry instructions attached to your successful reservation.
  • The official notice says on-site registration may be possible when a slot has not filled. Treat that as a fallback only, not a plan—especially for weekends or holidays.

Digital setup can be the hard part. The official rule accepting a passport does not guarantee every overseas phone, wallet account, or mini-program flow will work identically. Test the process early. If the official mini-program rejects your details, use the official notice/contact channel or ask your hotel for help; do not send passport data to an unverified booking agent.
